Chicken Strips (炸雞) - Triple O's (Tsim Sha Tsui /

Chicken Strips (炸雞)
Chicken Strips (炸雞) - HK$27/42 (3/5 Strips)

The Hungry Nobody score - 5/10
Real strips of chicken, lightly breaded and very satisfying.  Unfortunately, some were quite oily.

What I did like was that Triple O's uses unprocessed chicken meat to make their strips.  Ok, it's probably still processed, but at least when you bite into it, the grain of the meat is still intact.  It's all breast meat but the strips don't come out dry and pasty, so it's actually ok to eat them without any dipping sauce.  It comes with a honey-mustard dipping sauce, which I actually enjoy with my fries as well.  The breading is quite light and there isn't too much seasoning on it, so if you eat it plain, you can actually detect some chicken flavor (authentic or not is another matter).

What I didn't like was that the cook didn't allow the strips to drain properly.  The strips were obviously placed vertically to allow the oil to drain, but if you don't allow enough time, what happens is that one end of the chicken is perfectly drained, while the bottom half is still drenched in frying oil.  Nasty stuff!  Blotting it away with your napkin quickly solves the problem, but then the image of an oil soaked napkin is etched into your mind as you eat.  Oh well, just forget about it and enjoy nevertheless.
